It was the first snowfall in Zurich in 2026. I was sitting in the office when I looked out the window and saw snow falling. So I decided to go for a walk with my camera during my lunch break.

I brought an umbrella to protect my camera from the snow. Because I was using a 35mm lens and the umbrella was quite big, it kept appearing in the photos. At first this was not on purpose, but after a while I thought: why not make it part of the photos? So the blue umbrella became a guest in every picture.

I walked around for about an hour and this series was born. These are not great or spectacular photos, but sometimes you can turn small accidents, experiments, or “nothing special is happening” moments into a series. You just need a bit of creativity.
